Family activities a stone’s throw from Sarlat-la-Canéda
Dordogne is a dream destination for families. Family activities in Périgord Noir are so numerous that it’s impossible to get bored! For children’s activities near Sarlat-la-Canéda, travel back in time to Parc du Bournat, a reconstructed 1900s village, or meet the dinosaurs at Le Conquil. Castles like Castelnaud, with its war machines, fascinate budding knights. For a cooler day, the Périgord Noir Aquarium invites you to discover the mysteries of the rivers. - And for an unforgettable experience, treat yourself to a hot air balloon ride at sunrise to admire the valley of castles from the sky.
Swimming and fishing spots in Dordogne
In summer, when the sun shines, the Dordogne offers wonderful alternatives to the campsite’s swimming pool**. Several pebble beaches are set up for swimming in an exceptional natural setting, such as at the Vitrac bridge or at the foot of Castelnaud Castle. The water there is known for its cleanliness and clarity. The river is also a true paradise for fishing enthusiasts, who can try their hand at trout, pike, or perch (remember to bring a fishing license). It’s the perfect opportunity for a riverside picnic and a well-deserved nap in the shade of the trees.
